How Long Should You See a Counselor?

Many clients want to know how long they should continue counseling. Leigh’s philosophy is that the timeline for discontinuing counseling is different for each individual. Some of Leigh’s clients need counseling for a few sessions to achieve their therapeutic goals while others stay for a few months or even years. Leigh believes that ultimately you can heal, grow, and thrive to a point where you don’t need regularly scheduled counseling anymore.

Life is full of ups and downs. Sometimes we need help working through the tough times and figuring out how to move forward. Leigh has not only studied how to be a good therapist, she’s been in therapy in the past and learned a great deal about what makes a good therapist (and unfortunately what makes a not-so-good-therapist).

Leigh counsels using an interactive, strengths-based and supportive approach. She believes safe exploration of your fears and difficulties is crucial to your growth.

Effective therapy involves building a healthy therapeutic relationship and it is important that you feel comfortable and safe discussing the issues you most struggle with. Ensuring we are a good fit is important as we work together to help you heal, grow, and thrive.
